Today, a majority of Idaho’s funding for public transportation and mobility comes through Federal Transit Administration (FTA) programs. The Idaho Transportation Department Division of Public Transportation (ITD-PT) manages and distributes FTA program funds. ITD-PT grants these funds through I-way’s local coordination process, awarding funding to projects that are prioritized in local mobility plans, recommended by the District Coordination Council and Public Transportation Advisory Council and approved by the Idaho Transportation Board.

ITD-PT also oversees the Statewide Vehicle Improvement Program.

The Community Transportation Association of Idaho administers Idaho’s RTAP program and coordinates the Idaho Transit Coalition’s 5309 application.

Through I-way's local coordination process, projects and strategies prioritized in local mobility plans are eligible to receive funding through these programs.
