Today, Idaho has commuter rail service, provided by Amtrak via a stop in Sandpoint. This route takes commuters from Sandpoint into Washington, with a stop in downtown Spokane.

Short, scenic rail tours are provided via Thunder Mountain Line from Horseshoe Bend to Cascade.

In the coming years, as communities work to improve mobility options, rail may become a more viable option for continuing to build Idaho’s system of connected travel.
