CTAI Appoints Executive Director

I am very pleased to announce that the Community Transportation Association of Idaho (CTAI) has appointed Heather Wheeler as executive director.
“CTAI is continuously working toward improving mobility for the people of Idaho,” said Board President Cecelia Hockett. “With Heather Wheeler at the helm, we feel confident she will apply her years of experience and expertise in public administration to her role as executive director to further the accomplishments of CTAI.”
Under its new Executive Director, CTAI is embracing a new mission – one that supports the coordinated transportation planning process of Idaho, called Idaho’s Mobility and Access Pathway (IMAP). CTAI strives to improve mobility for the people of Idaho by working with consumers, stakeholders, and leaders while advocating for safe cost effective, accessible, integrated, and affordable multi-modal mobility services and systems throughout the state. CTAI accomplishes this goal through efforts that include coordination support, training and education, and legislative advocacy.
CTAI will be working diligently to build partnerships with each of the local mobility networks, communities, and stakeholder s to support their coordination initiatives. CTAI’s participation is very exciting; the association is designed to support the needs of its members, and since IMAP brings the decision making process directly to the local communities, CTAI is a unique resource that will help communities meet their mobility needs.
"I am very excited about the grass roots planning efforts that are taking place at the local level to improve mobility options," says Executive Director Heather Wheeler. CTAI’s mission and goals fit perfectly with the vision of IMAP and these partnerships will help support the local efforts.
As executive director, Heather will manage all day-to-day operations of CTAI, maintain and enhance membership, and work closely with federal, state, and local elected officials, as well as public agencies and businesses, on public transportation issues and issues associated with mobility.
Heather will work to execute the mission and vision of CTAI by applying her 15 years of experience in public administration to her new role as Executive Director. Most recently, Wheeler served as Administrator for communications and regional development for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Prior to that, she was the Deputy Director of the Municipality of Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services in Alaska.
